Fox-Nut Processing for an Australian Entrepreneur

Business Need

Our client, a Melbourne-based entrepreneur, faced a critical challenge in establishing a compliant processing setup for seasoned Fox-nut. Under Australian food regulations, the product required a 4/5-star rating to ensure market viability. Compounding this challenge, when the Fox-nut and associated machinery arrived from India in a 20-foot container, customs delayed the release of the product due to questions regarding the roasting temperature and necessary microbial analysis.

Solution Offered

To address these challenges, we implemented a comprehensive strategy:

  • Testing and Compliance: We conducted rigorous testing of foxnut to verify that the Fox-nut was roasted at the required temperature of 95 degrees Celsius at the Centre, which was essential for regulatory approval.

  • Capacity Planning: After evaluating the production needs, we determined that a roasting capacity of 50 kg/hr was optimal, aligning with the client's supply chain requirements for a 2-ton shipment.

  • Logistics and Storage: We facilitated the option for Less than Container Load (LCL) shipping and ensured adequate storage capacity for a shelf life of six months.

  • Machinery Solution: We provided a compact, efficient roasting and seasoning machine tailored for their production scale, ensuring the client could meet market demands swiftly.

Results Realized

Our collaboration yielded significant outcomes:

  • Efficient Supply Chain: Achieved a seamless supply chain with zero wastage and no product expiration.

  • Regulatory Success: Obtained all necessary certifications and clearances to meet Australian food safety standards.

  • Financial Performance: Maintained strong profit margins through optimized operations.

  • Quality Assurance: Successfully attained a 4-star rating on the first assessment, positioning the product favorably in the market.

Frozen African Chili Export to California

Business Need

Our client, a California-based EXIM brand specializing in frozen African chili, encountered multiple challenges in delivering a high heat unit (SHU) product to their U.S. customer. The issues included:

  • Small Shipment Size: The consignment size was limited to between 100-250 kg, complicating logistics.

  • Regulatory Hurdles: The product was not categorized within the FDA database, presenting a significant barrier to entry.

  • Supply Chain Limitations: There was a need for a cost-effective local supply chain vendor capable of handling small quantities of frozen commodities via air transport.

Solution Offered

To tackle these challenges, we developed a targeted strategy:

  • Logistics Coordination: We identified Lufthansa as the preferred airline carrier for transporting the small frozen consignment, ensuring compliance with temperature control requirements.

  • Local Delivery Partnership: We partnered with DHL for local door-to-door delivery. They provided a specialized frozen truck service to maintain product integrity during transit.

  • Regulatory Engagement: Our team maintained active communication with the U.S. FDA for 15 days, facilitating the registration process for the product and ensuring it was cleared for local delivery. Throughout this period, the container was connected to power to uphold the required temperature.

Results Realized
Our efforts yielded significant outcomes:

  • Quality Assurance: Conducted an extensive product study to guarantee that the most preferred SHU chili was selected for the U.S. market, aligning with consumer preferences.

  • Cost-Effectiveness: Despite navigating a complex supply chain, we successfully delivered the consignment at competitive prices, demonstrating our commitment to efficiency and value

Online Metal Detection System for Biscuit Processing in Nigeria

Business Need

Our client, NASCO Foods in Nigeria, required the timely delivery of an online metal detection system for their biscuit processing line. However, they faced several challenges:

  • Pandemic Disruptions: The onset of COVID-19 caused significant delays, as international flight operations were severely impacted, leading to an indefinite backlog.

  • Logistical Complications: The consignment became stranded at a customs house agent (CHA) warehouse, which was operating on a rental basis.

  • Increased Air Freight Costs: As air cargo operations resumed, air freight rates surged due to heightened demand and existing backlogs.

Solution Offered
To navigate these challenges effectively, we implemented a strategic plan:

  • Warehouse Management: We collaborated closely with our trusted CHA, ensuring that the consignment was safely stored for three months until conditions improved.

  • Rate Negotiation: We negotiated a revised air freight rate and prioritized our client’s consignment over others in the queue. Additionally, we advocated for a slight reduction in air freight costs to mitigate the impact of rate increases on our client.

  • Currency Management: We effectively managed the fluctuations in exchange rates related to air freight costs and international transactions, safeguarding our client’s financial interests.

Results Realized
Our proactive approach resulted in significant achievements:

  • Timely Delivery: The consignment was delivered with the utmost care and at a competitive cost, ensuring minimal disruption to the client’s operations.

  • Sustained Partnership: Our commitment to overcoming obstacles reinforced a strong, long-term relationship with NASCO Foods, showcasing our dedication to client satisfaction and reliable service.
